Dudycha to run 600 m and aim for the best Czech performance in history
Spectators can look forward to Czech representatives as well as international stars who belong among the best in their disciplines.
One of the main highlights will be the start of Jakub Dudycha, the Czech record holder in the 800 meters and participant at this year’s World Championships in Tokyo. Dudycha will compete in the 600 meters, instead of the originally scheduled men’s 800 meters. On this distance he will attempt to break the all-time best Czech outdoor performance, which has stood since 2006. Dudycha is regarded as one of the biggest Czech middle-distance talents of today. Earlier this year he broke the Czech national record in the 800 meters, which had remained on the books since 1998 – an incredible 26 years. That’s why his start in Ústí nad Orlicí will be such a special event.
In the men’s 100 meters sprint, Rohan Watson of Jamaica will start. Watson is the 2023 Jamaican champion, bronze medalist at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, and placed 5th at the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, in the 60 meters. His personal best of 9.91 seconds promises a world-class race.
The women’s 100-meter hurdles will feature Viktoria Forster, Slovak record holder and participant at the World Championships in Tokyo. She will be joined by Tereza Čorejová, bronze medalist from the European U23 Championships in Bergen. These athletes will clash with the current Czech hurdling elite, who are in exceptional form. It may well be that the women’s hurdles will be the highlight of the entire athletics day.
So don’t forget – the Rieter Athletics Meeting 2025 will take place on Thursday, August 28, from 16:00 at the stadium in Ústí nad Orlicí. The venue opens at 15:00. Admission is free for children under 15, and 100 CZK for others. Athletics fans can look forward to an afternoon full of international contests and domestic stars.
